Geotab Partners with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG to Enhance Fleet Telematics

Geotab, a global leader in connected transportation solutions, has announced a new partnership with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG (VW GIS), a key player in multi-brand data products within the Volkswagen Group. This collaboration marks a major milestone in Geotab’s expanding Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) network, combining Volkswagen Group’s high-quality vehicle data with the advanced capabilities of the Geotab platform to offer fleet operators top-tier telematics and connected mobility solutions—ready to use without the need for retrofitting.

With customer consent, built-in sensors in Volkswagen Group fleet vehicles will collect vehicle-generated data, which is then transferred to the Geotab platform via an application programming interface (API). Geotab’s platform simplifies data collection and conversion, allowing for advanced analysis and actionable insights, all while ensuring the highest levels of data privacy and security. The integration guarantees that fleet data is securely transmitted and stored within Geotab’s database, under the control of the fleet owner. This valuable data enables fleet operators in industries such as vehicle leasing, last-mile delivery, utilities, and mobility services to make near real-time decisions to boost productivity and maintain compliance.

“With this partnership, we can offer fleet management solutions to a broader customer base via native telematics. Integrating with brands from the Volkswagen Group enhances customer trust, while also allowing OEMs to avoid building their own technology stacks for data processing and visualization. Customers benefit by seamlessly feeding their multi-brand fleet data into our platform, receiving OEM-specific data points and gaining a comprehensive, 360-degree view of their operations,” said Christoph Ludewig, Vice President, Europe OEM and Leasing/Rental/Mobility at Geotab.

The MyGeotab platform now integrates vehicle data from a range of manufacturers, including Volkswagen Group brands (VW, Audi, Škoda, CUPRA, SEAT), BMW-Mini, Renault, Dacia, Ford, Stellantis, and Mercedes-Benz, along with data from Geotab’s own telematics devices. These insights help fleet managers enhance efficiency, support sustainability efforts, and produce Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) reports by optimizing routes, increasing fuel efficiency, and reducing idling times.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Geotab to deliver cutting-edge telematics to fleet operators throughout Europe. By integrating data from Volkswagen Group vehicles with Geotab’s platform, we give fleet managers the tools to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability, all without the need for additional hardware,” said Patricia Stich, Chairwoman of VW Group Info Services AG.

The Geotab-VW GIS integrated solution will be available from September 2024 across multiple European markets, including Austria, Germany, France, the UK, and others.
