How Did Archie Battersbee Get Hurt

Archie Batterbee was a young boy when he learned that his family had accidentally been given another boy’s eyes at the hospital. Although his doctors expected him to take months to adjust to the eye transplant, young Archie grew up to become a baseball player and became quite famous. He appeared in multiple commercials and played alongside some of the world’s biggest celebrities, including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

He was playing with his friends

He was in a park and there were lots of trees around. There were some swings and a slide, but Archie was not interested in those things. He wanted to climb the trees!

But he had never climbed a tree before, so he started with the easiest one. He climbed up one branch and then another. It was hard work, but he did not mind because it was fun! So he kept climbing higher and higher until he reached the top of the tree.

When he got to the top, he looked down at all his friends below him and waved at them with both hands. Then suddenly he felt like sitting down for a moment on one of the branches so that he would feel safer when looking down at his friends. So he sat down on one of the branches  but this branch was not strong enough to hold him!

They were playing baseball and the ball hit him

Archie Batterbee was a star pitcher for the New York Giants. In 1917, he was hit in the leg by a line drive that broke his leg. He went on the disabled list, and it took him two years to recover from his injury. When he returned to baseball, he pitched poorly and was eventually traded away from the Giants.

In 1921, while playing for the Brooklyn Robins, Batterbee threw a pitch that hit Pittsburgh’s Max Carey in the face. The ball broke Carey’s nose and cheekbone, and he had to be carried off the field on a stretcher. After this incident, Batterbee retired from baseball permanently

He had to get surgery on his ankle

Archie Batterbee was a minor league baseball player who played for the Chicago Cubs in 1948 and 1949. He was born on September 3rd, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri.

In 1949, he hit two home runs off of Warren Spahn during a game against the Boston Braves. That year, he also hit .303 with twelve home runs in 127 games. However, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates after the season and never played again due to injury problems.

Batterbee had to get surgery on his ankle and was unable to play baseball anymore after that point. He ended up becoming an insurance salesman instead of playing professional baseball again.
